What YouTube Transcript Extractor does

YouTube Transcript Extractor is a web application that extracts transcripts from publicly available YouTube videos and lets you chat with the content using AI. You create an account with your email address and a password.

Information we collect

  • Account details — your email address, an optional name, and your password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash; we never see or store the password itself.
  • Verification codes — one-time codes we email you during signup or password reset. They are stored hashed and deleted automatically after 10 minutes.
  • Transcripts and chat history — transcripts you save and your AI chat messages, so you can access them later from your library.
  • Usage data — your credit balance and usage, and which credit packs you view or try to buy. We store the campaign link (UTM tags) and referring site you first arrived from, to understand how people find us. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking cookies.

How we use your information

  • To authenticate you and keep you signed in
  • To send verification and password-reset codes
  • To save your transcripts and AI chat history
  • To track your credit balance

We do not sell, share, or distribute your personal information to third parties.

Third-party services

  • OpenAI API — transcript content is sent to OpenAI to power the AI chat. Subject to OpenAI's usage policies.
  • MongoDB Atlas — stores your account data, transcripts and chat history.
  • Email delivery provider — sends your verification codes.
  • YouTube — we read public video metadata and captions. This site is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual transcripts from your library at any time. To delete your account entirely, contact us at the email below.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Sign-in tokens expire after 30 days, and login and verification attempts are rate-limited.
